Dahlia Dig n Divide Workshop

Date: Saturday 27th June 2026
Time: 9:30am – 12:00pm
Location: Petal & Bee Flower Farm, 6b Kells Road Tomerong NSW

You’re not coming to sit and take notes.

You’re coming to get your hands in the dirt and learn how to actually dig, divide and store dahlias — here on a working flower farm.

If you’ve ever looked at a big tangled dahlia clump and thought “I have no idea where to start”… this workshop is for you.

About the Workshop

This is a small-group, hands-on experience working directly with real field-grown dahlia clumps.

You’ll learn the exact process we use here at Petal & Bee each season — step by step.

No fluff. No overwhelm. No fancy gardening jargon.

Just real plants, real tools, and real learning.

You’ll be doing it, not watching it.

What You’ll Learn

During this 2.5-hour workshop, you’ll learn:

  • What, How and When we dig dahlia clumps on the farm
  • The tools I use each season for dividing
  • How to identify eyes
  • How to divide clumps step-by-step
  • Common mistakes
  • How I store dahlias over winter here on the farm

This session is focused purely on digging, dividing and storing — not general growing advice.

What To Expect

A real working flower farm experience:

  • Dirty hands
  • Muddy boots
  • Plenty of laughs
  • Tea (non-negotiable)
  • Cakes and biscuits (also non-negotiable)
  • Hands-on learning the entire time
  • Ducks supervising with no useful input
  • A relaxed, unpolished farm morning

We’ll also walk the farm and talk through what’s happening behind the scenes over winter.

No experience needed — just curiosity and shoes you don’t mind destroying.

What You’ll Leave With

  • Your own dug and divided dahlia tubers
  • The tools used during the workshop (yours to keep)
  • Practical skills you can use immediately at home
  • Confidence to tackle your own tubers without second-guessing yourself

Tea, coffee and morning tea included.

A Little Extra (Important)

As a little bonus for joining us on the farm, workshop attendees will receive exclusive early access to our upcoming dahlia tuber sale before it opens to the public. Once we’ve finished sorting through the season’s tubers and the sale is ready, attendees will be notified via email ahead of release day madness.

First pick before the general rush.

And quietly… not everything heading into the sale is listed on the website yet.

Important Information

Please wear enclosed shoes or boots and dress for winter farm conditions.

This is an all-weather workshop and will go ahead rain, hail or shine.
Rain, wind, mud, freezing fingers… we carry on.

Small group numbers are intentional so everyone gets plenty of hands-on support.

If you have any dietary requirements, please let us know at time of booking so we can cater accordingly.

Refund Policy

Due to limited workshop numbers, tickets are non-refundable if you change your mind or are unable to attend. If you can no longer make it, you are welcome to transfer your ticket to someone else in your place.

It is the participant’s responsibility to remember the workshop date and attend on the day. Forgotten attendance or last-minute changes are not eligible for refund.

In the unlikely event that we need to cancel the workshop for any reason, participants will be offered a full refund.
